WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES

Yesterday morning I thought I may have seen my daughter for the last time.  This morning Dr. Mendeloff is talking about when he wants to try and close her chest.

Charlotte had a terrific night and the doctors and nurses can't believe how quickly she has turned things around.  Her lactates have gone down steadily through the night and are at their lowest point since I started hearing about them.  She has come off of almost all of the medicine that they were using to help her heart beat strongly and she should be totally off of it soon.  They are even talking about starting to feed her milk today.  There is still a long way to go but we are blown away by the progress she has made in the past 24 hours.

Yesterday morning when we heard Dr. Mendeloff say "I've never had to do this before" it was one of the scariest things I could imagine, but now he can say "I've done this before, and it went very well."

  2. Last night as I prayed for Charlotte Rose I was filled with an image of the sailboats on the lake. I remembered that there were sailboats with rainbow striped sails. So,today as I drive to Lawrence to take David his 1040 I'll be praying that Charlotte has smooth sailing.
Love and hugs to Sarah, Patrick, Charlotte, little Patrick, and the grandparents

" When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive -to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love."

  14. Hi Sarah,
We sat at the same table last year at MOPs. I do not know you well but I know you have a tender, sweet spritit. Your daughter is beautiful! She has so much hair!! She is so strong! God is already performing miracles through her and witnessing to everyone around her. My daughter Katelyn was preemie (1.14lbs, now almost 5yrs old and perfectly healthy). She was never as critical as Charlotte but I can definatley empathize with watching your baby struggle, the needles, learning the lingo, shift change, leaving your baby, and putting your faith in the doctors, nurses, all the therapists, and even machines. And especially in God. Katelyn, my husband, and I pray for your baby, you and your family, and all the staff responsible for her care. Let others help you, in any way they offer... food, mail, drycleaning, babysitting... It was hard for me to accept help but when I did it was a huge blessing! Rest when you can, and touch your baby when you can. Share your feelings with your spouse and know we all grieve and handle stressful situations differently. These things helped us through the NICU and going home. Journaling is awesome too! Thank you for sharing your news and updates with us! God bless! I know she will be fine! Casey Simpson
